What is the Gang Free Initiative? The Gang Free Initiative is a National Program sponsored by the National Alliance of Gang Investigator Associations (NAGIA). This program may be utilized by all the member associations to further education, intervention, and prevention in the area of gangs. This is a FAMILY ORIENTED program, and we will sponsor Family events to help foster a positive Family relationship. These relationships will strive to keep kids away from gangs. How is the Gang Free Initiative Funded? The Gang Free Foundation is a National Board of Directors established to seek Grant Funding for this program. The NWGIA, while a participant in the program, will get the funding from the Gang Free Foundation. Is the Gang Free Initiative a Membership Organization? No. Anyone may participate in these events. There is no membership. Events may have participation fees associated with them. These fees will go towards paying for the event itself and to offset the costs of materials for the overall program. The NWGIA is the parent organiztion, this is a program of the NWGIA and will be self reliant and self sufficient. How do I get involved? Currently, the NWGIA plans to participate in this Initiative, but we need coordinators in all four of our member states: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. These state level coordinators will help form the core Gang Free for their state and will ensure that the events in these states are planned and executed! Gang Free coordinators may be anyone who has an interest in helping kids stay out of gangs. If you are interested, please contact President Mike Beagen through this website. |
